Recording guides

Create subtitles that match your recording

Generate captions after timeline edits, correct the transcript and validate SRT or WebVTT before publishing.

Finish timeline edits first

Generate captions from the audio that will actually be published. Trimming the beginning, changing speed or removing pauses afterward changes the timeline and can make subtitles drift.

Review words and timing separately

A transcript can contain the right words at the wrong times. Check names and numbers, then watch the captions with the recording. Fix cues that appear too early, remain too long or interrupt a sentence awkwardly.

  1. Upload the final recording.
  2. Review the generated text and cue times.
  3. Export SRT for compatible video editors or WebVTT for web media tracks.
  4. Run the exported file through the subtitle validator.
  5. Test it in the destination player.

Convert contents, not extensions

SRT and WebVTT differ in headers and timestamp syntax. Renaming .srt to .vtt does not perform a conversion. Use the converter and check any styling or positioning in the final player.

Automated checks cannot establish transcript accuracy or accessibility compliance. A human review remains useful for public captions.
